TikTok video to text

Made a TikTok and want the words as text for captions, a script or a post? Upload the video file here. Scriptorium does not accept TikTok links and does not download videos: it is for videos you own or are allowed to use.

Free preview: one file up to 15 minutes and 25 MB, 3 tries a day, no account needed.

Your video, your file

A TikTok belongs to the person who made it, and it can carry music or someone else's voice that is licensed only inside the app. Upload videos you created, or that the creator has allowed you to use. There is no link box on purpose: this page cannot fetch anything from TikTok.

Where to find the file

  1. The cleanest source is the original clip in your camera roll or the export from your editing app, before it was posted.
  2. If you only have the finished video on TikTok, the app has options to save your own videos to your device and a way to download your account data. Both depend on your region, settings and app version, so check TikTok's help for the current steps.
  3. Choose the file in the box above and wait for the transcript.

Menu names and where options live change between app versions, plans and operating systems, so treat the steps as the general route and check the app's own help page for the current wording.

Limits and what to expect

A TikTok is short, so it fits the guest limit of 15 minutes and 25 MB with room to spare. Trending-sound videos are the awkward case: when the audio is mostly a song and a voiceover is quiet underneath, the speech may be missed. Where speakers talk quickly, in slang or switching languages, read the transcript against the video and fix what is off.

Using the transcript

Use it as a script, as the basis for accessible captions, or as the first draft of a blog post. SRT and VTT exports follow the segments of speech rather than social-style short lines, so you will probably shorten the cues. The short-form video guide covers that editing step, and the reel page covers the same job for Instagram.

A note on consent and rights

Duets, stitches and videos with other people in them involve more than one rights holder. A transcript of words someone else said is still their words. Keep it for your own use unless you have permission to publish it.

How it works

  1. Add a recording

Drop in a video or audio file, choose one from your device, or record from the microphone. Nothing to install.

  2. It transcribes

Speech becomes timestamped text, with speaker labels when more than one person talks.

  3. Read, fix, export

Click any line to correct it, then download TXT, subtitles, Markdown, JSON or CSV.

Questions

Can I paste a TikTok link?
No. We do not take links or download from TikTok. Upload the video file.
Does it work on a duet or stitch?
It transcribes whatever speech is in the file, but the other creator's part is theirs; use it only with permission.
Can it caption the video automatically?
It gives you a transcript and SRT or VTT files. Adding them to the video is up to your editor or platform.
Which languages work?
The same languages as the rest of the site. Pick yours instead of relying on detection for short clips.
Is it free?
Yes — one recording up to 15 minutes and 25 MB with no account, up to 3 tries a day. A free account keeps your transcripts in a library and lifts the guest limits; the current limits and paid plans are on the pricing page.
