No warranty

Scriptorium is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Transcription is an automated process and it makes mistakes — including fluent, confident mistakes that read perfectly well. Check anything you are going to rely on against the original audio.

Availability

The free preview is offered as a courtesy and its limits may change. Transcription runs on a queue, so at busy moments you may wait. Neither availability nor turnaround time is guaranteed.

What you upload

You are responsible for having the right to upload and transcribe the material you submit. Do not upload recordings you were not entitled to make, or somebody else's copyrighted work you have no licence to process.

Recording consent

Do not use Scriptorium to process a recording made without the consent your jurisdiction requires. Recording laws vary by location, and by whether all parties or only one must agree. That obligation sits with the person who pressed record.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to process material that is unlawful, or to attempt to disrupt it for other users — including automating the free preview to evade its limits.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. Temporary preview accounts are deleted automatically along with their files, as described on the privacy page.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the product changes. The version in effect is whatever is published on this page at the time.
