Convert WebP to JPG
Turn WebP files into JPG. WebP is what most websites now serve, and plenty of older software still refuses to open it.

Converted in your browser. A copy of the file you select is also uploaded and stored, so it can be investigated if a problem or a report of misuse ever requires that — see our privacy page for how long it is kept.
Why you have a WebP at all
Because you saved an image from a website. WebP is what most sites now serve, since it produces noticeably smaller files than JPG at the same visible quality, and every current browser reads it. The trouble starts once the file leaves the browser: older photo software, some document editors, a good number of upload forms and plenty of corporate systems still do not recognise it.
What converting costs
A little quality and a lot of file size. The WebP is decoded and re-encoded as JPG, so it goes through a second round of lossy compression — usually invisible at a sensible quality setting, but real. And because JPG is the less efficient format, the result will typically be larger than the WebP you started with. You are trading size for compatibility, which is a perfectly good reason.
Animated files
A WebP can hold an animation, and JPG cannot hold anything but a single still image. Converting an animated WebP here gives you one frame. There is no honest way around that in this format.
Questions
Will the JPG be bigger than the WebP?
Usually yes. WebP is a more efficient format, so the same picture as a JPG of comparable quality tends to be a larger file. You are converting for compatibility, not for size.
Does this work with animated WebP?
No. An animated WebP converts to a single still frame, because JPG has no way to store animation. This tool is for still images.
Is my image uploaded?
The conversion happens in your browser. A copy of the image is also uploaded and stored, the same as any file sent to Scriptorium, so it can be investigated if a problem or a report of misuse ever requires that.
Turn what is said into text
Scriptorium's main job is transcription: bring a video or an audio file and get back text you can read, correct, search and export.
