Live audio rooms
Live audio recording to text
Clubhouse rooms, X Spaces and similar live-audio events are only transcribable afterwards, and only if a recording exists and you can get the file. Upload it here and read it as text. This site cannot join a live room or take a link.
First question: does a recording exist?
Live audio is gone when the room closes unless somebody recorded it. Whether a room can be recorded, who can do it, how long the replay stays available and whether a participant may download it all depend on the platform and on what the host chose. Those rules change, so check the platform's help for the current position, and do not assume you can get a file.
Ways a recording reaches you
- The host recorded it and gives you the audio file directly.
- The platform offers a replay or download to the host, and the host shares it with you.
- You recorded your own side or the room on your device, with the host's and participants' knowledge where that is required.
- A speaker shares a recording they made of their own talk.
Permission matters more here
A live room can have many speakers and listeners, some of whom never agreed to being turned into a text document. Only upload a recording you are allowed to use: your own, or one the host has given you for this purpose. Recording-consent rules differ between places; check yours before you record a room yourself. A transcript of other people's words stays their words, so quote with care and get permission to publish.
Long rooms
Without an account one file can be up to 15 minutes and 25 MB. A free account lifts those per-file limits and keeps your transcripts in a library, so for anything longer than a short clip, create one rather than cutting the file up. Live rooms often run an hour or more, so a free account is usually needed. If you only want a segment, such as one guest's talk, trim it in an audio editor first.
The transcript
Expect many voices, some on poor connections. Speaker labels cover up to eight people with a free account, and a room with more speakers than that will be grouped imperfectly. Dropped audio and echo are the usual causes of garbled lines. Export text for show notes or a recap, and read the webinar guide for a similar workflow.
How it works
Add a recording
Drop in a video or audio file, choose one from your device, or record from the microphone. Nothing to install.
It transcribes
Speech becomes timestamped text, with speaker labels when more than one person talks.
Read, fix, export
Click any line to correct it, then download TXT, subtitles, Markdown, JSON or CSV.
