Delete pages from a PDF

Say which pages to drop and download what is left. Everything else is carried across untouched — same text, same layout, same quality.

Loading the tool…

Converted in your browser. A copy of the file you select is also uploaded and stored, so it can be investigated if a problem or a report of misuse ever requires that — see our privacy page for how long it is kept.

How to remove pages

  1. Choose the PDF. It tells you how many pages it has.
  2. Type the pages to remove, the way you would for printing — 2, 5-7, 11.
  3. Download the result. Everything you did not list is still there, in order.

What happens to the pages you keep

They are copied across whole. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed, so the text stays selectable and searchable, images keep their original quality, and the file does not quietly degrade the way it would if the document had been flattened into pictures and rebuilt. The file usually gets smaller, for the ordinary reason that there is less in it.

Removing pages, or splitting?

Use this when you want one document with less in it — a signature page dropped, a blank scan removed. Use Split PDF when you want to pull a section out into a file of its own, or break a document into separate pages. They are opposite ways of saying the same thing: here you name what goes, there you name what stays.

A caution worth stating

Removing a page removes it from the copy you download. It does not reach back into whatever you were sent, and it is not a way to redact something: if the point is that nobody should ever see that content, deleting the page from a copy you are forwarding is only as good as your certainty that no other copy exists.

Questions

How do I say which pages to remove?

Type them the way you would for printing — 2, 5-7, 11. Everything not listed is kept.

Does it re-compress the pages it keeps?

No. The pages you keep are copied across as they are, so nothing is re-encoded and the file does not lose quality. It will usually get smaller, simply because there is less in it.

Is my document uploaded?

The work happens in your browser. A copy of the file you select is also uploaded and stored, the same as any file sent to Scriptorium — see our privacy page.

Turn what is said into text

Scriptorium's main job is transcription: bring a video or an audio file and get back text you can read, correct, search and export.
